The Slavic Wheel of the Year

with Gabriela Sarna Wiraszka

We are all familiar with the Celtic wheel of the year which has become the standard for any general pagan celebrations. However, I really wanted to illustrate that EVERY land-based culture had/has their own version of the wheel. When we are able to connect to our own personal ancestral wheel, I believe we are able to go deeper into the seasons and celebrations within it.

Admittedly, I have had a difficult time piecing together the Slavic wheel of the year because of fragmented information and varying practices throughout the Slavic world. I struck gold though when I was put in touch with Gabriela Sarna Wiraszka, a Slavic folk healer who has a deep ancestral connection and knowledge to our wheel of the year.

She’s generously offered to share her insights as we travel around the wheel in this podcast episode. Interestingly, you’ll notice that our wheel isn’t so much divided by quarters or eights, but into even smaller segments of time that flow into each other, creating a beautiful tapestry to weave ourselves into.
